Networking is an essential tool to enriching your own career path as well as others. Itis the most important strategy for developing a career plan and effectively landing a job or internship. Networking is not just about who you know, but who knows you.
Below are some resources to help you build and engage with your networks. This information will come in handy as a current student and as a Hamline alum.
Services for alumni
The Career Development Center (CDC)provides services at no cost to alumni for three years after their graduation including assistance with resumes, interviewing, and job search strategies.To schedule an appointment with a career counselor, please call 651-523-2302.Depending on the time of year, appointment availability and service may be limited.
Alumni who are more than three years post-graduation may use the resources on the CDC webpage and withinHandshake. We have also developed a list of community career resources (PDF)which you can access for further assistance.
Handshake
Handshakeis the CDC's online job posting, campus recruiting, communication and networking system.Register for your free Handshake accounttoday and sign upfollowing Hamline's Handshake instructions (Google Doc). Take advantage of the system's many features, including:
- Review and apply for current job postings
- Post your resume online as a job applicant
- Research employers in your interest area
If you are an employer who is a Hamline alum, you mayregister on Handshake as an employerand use the following features for free:
- Post job or internship opportunities
- Schedule tabling and recruiting events
